I finished reading Athens and Jerusalem: The Role of Philosophy in Theology. This is one I've been working on for several months; it was on the course reading list for the Philosophy for Theologians course. The author, Jack Bonsor, goes through the different philosophies that have interacted with the Christian faith through history -- from Platonism and neo-Platonism to Aristotelianism to the modern philosophies that sprang up after Aquinas. His approach is not strictly chronological but more or less thematic. His intention is to show how philosophy can give theology a form to express doctrinal truths; and that the Catholic faith has nothing to fear in philosophical engagement; "that Christian truth can not be overturned, but only strengthened, by investigation."
I also finished another book called Just a Regular Boy. This one was a novel by Catherine Ryan Hyde and a quick read. It's actually the first novel I've read so far where Covid is a theme, at least that I remember. I just downloaded it on Kindle today, so it was a fast read. The first novel I've read for a couple of weeks. It was about a boy who was brought to live in the woods off the grid by his survivalist father, who then dies. The boy almost dies too, partly because he has been convinced by his father that there is an apocalypse going on in the outside world, so he is afraid of people. He is eventually rescued and fostered by a woman who is working through some of her own family issues.
